Hi Brajesh,
I've had a problem with two users now when they register for my site via BuddyPress and then tie the account to their FB account.
When they first create an account all is well. However, when they connect their account to FB problems arise.
It seems to have linked his account with the wpadmin account. His profile picture from FB is now on the wpadmin user and when he logs in with his FB creds it shows wpadmin has logged in. If he logs in using his original credentials (not via FB Connect) all is well.
What could be causing this?

Hi! I’m quite desperate trying to get this right. Problem is with BP Gallery plugin, I’ve included the
<?php get_header('buddypress') ?>
and the
<?php get_footer('buddypress') ?>
, and it indeeds gets the styling, BUT the menu bar below the main tab bar gets this DIV styling:
<div class="item-list-tabs bp-content-tabs no-ajax" id="subnav">
. In the php files is like this: “item-list-tabs no-ajax”, and THIS is the way it should be.
These are the screenshots:
WRONG:
http://planetacanalla.arscivitas.com/wrong.jpg
RIGHT: (as it should be)
http://planetacanalla.arscivitas.com/right.jpg
It just keeps the same styling for the upper tabs in the navigation bar below. Any ideas of how could I set the navigation bar styling right?

Thanx for your help!!

I'm trying to use a shortcode on a Page to display the FB login button.

I just wanted to follow up - I changed my theme to Huddle (was using Mingle before) and it seems the Facebook connect module works as expected now. The user will connect with FB, and then their FB image is their BP image.

I notice you then have to go to Settings, enable use of Avatar, and then go to profile > Edit image just to update your profile image to something else.

So I change the Avatar. Log off. Then login again using Facebook connect - it changed my image BACK to the FB image.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Shouldn't it maintain the uploaded Avatar?

Hi,
I have a problem with populating BuddyPress Profile Fields. Some fields auto-populate from Facebook with the plugin which is great, but I need to have the new member fill out some other fields by hand as they register. These are fields which Facebook does not have, but I need. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks,

I had a user upload (5) images tonight. For some reason 4 out the 5 images show up as broken images, but the thumbnails in the Gallery view work!

This is what the Gallery view looks like:

http://screencast.com/t/I3yQqezA (please excuse the language here)

This is what it looks like when I click on the first (3) images, the first row:

http://screencast.com/t/IwJ4Xf28

For some reason the image titled "DG in Amsterdam" worked fine. The only think I can see that's different between the images, is that the "DG in Amsterdam" image is bigger in size than the others.

Here are the image links for one of the non-working images:

This is one of the broken image links:
http://staging.previsdev.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery/user/22/14/OhhhhhShiiiit.jpg

This is the working Gallery thumbnail link for the same image as above:
http://staging.previsdev.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery/user/22/14/OhhhhhShiiiit-150x97.jpg

With reference to http://buddydev.com/support/buddydev-membership-faqsupport/forum/topic/need-to-know-dev-price-for-the-following-for-non-profit-non-ad-based-site/ is there any progress on this?

In the meanwhile I found these two snippets helpful but needs work, and if you can, this can do the job.
http://www.dnxpert.com/2010/06/11/mark-blog-post-as-favorite-in-buddypress/ this helps to add a favorite link in an individual post. However with latest WP 3.3 Network/Multisite Subdirectory installation+BP 1.5.2 I do get the favorite link in individual blog post BUT the ‘item id’ is missing in the favorite link even after manually adding in the code.
For example in : …/WP/activity/favorite//?_wpnonce=618723325d // is remaining blank.

Another snippet http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/show-favourite-count-after-each-activity/ shows the number of times an item has been favorited but does not show who favorited or liked.

Hello folks,

Just installed BP Gallery on my site and it's completely messed up the layout of the site. The sidebar has been pushed down, there is no white background to the gallery, it's all over the place. Also, I couldn't seem to manage multiple image uploads. Even if I CTL+SELECTed images, only the last image selected would upload.

Here's a screen shot of what the site looks like on the Profile/ Gallery page with BP Gallery activated - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/Dougy2040/site_gallery.jpg

Hi!

Just installed you wonderful BP Gallery!. Amazing job!. But, I just realised that it breaks up the General Settings of my WP. Gone is the admin bar, the "Save changes" button, and I cannot choose my time zone. When I disable it, it comes back to normal. I've also installed the BP Gallery Sidebar plugin and the Pretty Gallery plugin, but disabling them while maintaining BP Gallery activated makes no effect at all.

I'd like to solve this situation, as I don't like breaking essential parts of the default WP installation. Can keep on working, though...

Thanx in advance!!

EDIT: Sorry, I should have posted this into the troubleshooting section... oops.

Hi Brajesh,

I have a problem with javascrit on upload pages. Firebug gives this error :
Uncaught TypeError: Object #<Object> has no method 'easeout' (jquery.min.js:4)

I checked, it only appears on the upload pages. It is not a big deal with Chrome, Firefox and Opera, but it prevents the user to upload on IE (all versions).

Any idea to solve this problem ?

Also, on "What's new?" form, when I click on the smal icons that allow to upload, both flash and navigator form are loaded, is it normal?

Thanks for your help

I like BP-Activity plus:

http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/media-embeds-for-buddypress-activity

but I would also like to use the BP-Gallery activity stream quick post icons as well but not only do they clash, they also have to pull different up loaders to get their uploads done.

I was wondering if a compatibility mode could be added to BP-Gallery to work with BP-Activity?? I know that the Buddystream developer plans to integrate with it.

Here is a quick concept I did up for how it may look, I didn't show the up loaders on this concept but you can get my idea by looking at this mockup:

Hello Brajesh,

With all of the great plugins being developed, many of them are very appealing. However, given that screen real-estate is extremely valuable (in Member Details horizontal tabs), people like me have to make choices about which ones to include for our users. Multiple row tabs in its present form looks bad and is not really people ui friendly.

So here's an idea for you to think about: A plugin that allows the site designer/developer to create/assign a tab under which the other plugin "tabs" become menu items in the subnav menu bar. Where these other plugins' tabs themselves have their own menu items in the subnav, then those subnav menu items are put in a dropdown menu.

So, an example would be putting your Gallery and Testimonial tabs under the Profile tab or me creating a tab called My Circle and then I put Friends, Followers, and Following into it. Make sense? Frankly, I think this would have a huge impact on the Buddypress community.

Anyway, just a thought...

Hi there, I bought a premium membership because I want to use the facebook connect+ plugin. Unfortunately I'm having a few issues that I hope you can help me fix. I've spent a few hours getting my head around exactly what the problem is and I've summarised my findings below to make it easier for you.

1) When a newcomer visits the site and uses the login with facebook feature, upon successful connection with facebook they are redirected to the login page for the website. This also happens for those who have already connected via facebook and wish to log in. Surely they should be redirected to the homepage as they are now logged in? They can re-enter the website homepage address and they can use the site as normal, it would appear that the only issue is the unneccessary redirect to the login page. How do I stop this?

It would be better if you could implement a feature whereby I could redirect them to a page of my choice based on both first time connection and/or future connections! This would mean upon first connection I could have a user redirected to a page where they can fill out the rest of their profile, then on future connects they are just redirected to the homepage. Or even better still if I could say the first of every x amount of logins the redirect goes to the page prompting them to update their profile.

2) While a user is logged into both facebook, and my BuddyPress site (via facebook, if they log out of the website, they are also logged out of facebook. How can I stop this?

3) Say a user is logged into a facebook account (lets call it fb-account-A) that is not linked to any buddypress profiles on the site... if that user then logs into a BuddyPress profile (which is linked itself to a different facebook account (say fb-account-B) they then can't log out of BuddyPress. The only way the user can log out is to first log out of facebook. This could pose a major problem to people who share computers and use the site (for instance if person A doesn't log out of their facebook then person B logs into the Buddypress site).

It has also made testing quite difficult (until I figured out what the problem was)

4) How can I put the "log in with facebook" button elsewhere on the site? Currently it is only on the login page, I would like it to be in the widget area for logged out users.

I would really appreciate your help on this.

Keep up the good work!

Dave

According to the instructions I added the Gallery file to BP-Default main directory and uploaded and activated BP-Gallery in the plugins section (without the Gallery directory that I had uploaded to the theme directory). Then I went to do the settings according the tittle above and the option BP-Gallery Settings is not there.

Please mind that I am using WP 3.3.1, BP 1.5.2, multisite.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thx, Donald.

Hi Brajesh,

Another plugin suggestion on the ever growing list of things I would like to see on my BuddyPress site! I understand you are very very busy but I'll drop the idea here so you could maybe think about it in the future!

BP Facebook Connect Pro Plugin:

Right now we have a very basic Facebook connect plugin which allows the user to log in with his facebook account. This works but it's very limited and not that great because it doesn't do anything besides logging in the user.

What I would like to see from a Facebook connect plugin is:

- let users import/invite their friends to WPMU/Buddypress.. So they will not only be able to login with the FB details but also invite their friends directly to my community.

- Synchronize Facebook status updates and Wall posts in BuddyPress: If a user posts something on his/her facebook wall it will show up on the BP site and vice versa).

- Copy the default profile info from Facebook to BuddyPress. For instance if the user has filled in his age and country on FB these fields get copied to the xprofile fields on BP.

A very good plugin similar for the socialengine platform is this: http://www.socialenginemods.net/social-engine/plugins/13/full-facebook-connect-publisher It has all the functions I described above and it should be possible with the very extensive Facebook API.

Let me know what you think :)

Hi Brajesh,

Before I migrated my CMS over to Wordpress/Buddypress I was using a bespoke script that provided a small Social Network for my members.

Anyway, one feature of this script the everybody liked was the ability to now what page each logged in member was currently viewing, a kind of 'Who's Where' functionality where you could quickly see what page a member was currently viewing, all from the front end.

eg...

Rob is in the Chatroom
Faye is posting a Blog entry
John is in the Group ABC

I think this would be a great buddypress plugin. Any thoughts?

All the best
Rob
