Is there a simple way to paste the registration form (from register.php) onto the bottom of a forum thread.
I've tried just pasting it in for non-logged-in users, but it doesn't show. I'd love for my forums to have the registration right there to encourage more sign-ups and more interaction.
Thoughts?

I am working on a better solution at the moment. A tiny plugin to allow ajax based registration, I think that will solve your issue for sure.
btw, if you want, I can show how the registration page can be embedded on the global forum pages with bp-default theme.
Your ajax solution sounds better...
Any way it can be configured where they either stay on the forum thread or are redirected back to it?
